Jake Locker, who is an early favorite to be the No. 1 player taken in the 2011 NFL draft, apparently ran a 4.39 40 recently. “Cornerback Desmond Trufant ran the fastest 40 at 4.33 when the team did its testing in May. Quarterback Jake Locker was next at 4.39. Chris Polk … was the fastest running back at 4.43.”
Would have been the 4th best time at the 2010 NFL Combine:
WR Jacoby Ford, Clemson 4.28
RB Jahvid Best, Cal 4.35
RB CJ Spiller, Clemson 4.37
Top QB: Jarrett Brown, West Virginia 4.54
Best Combine 40 times since 99:
4.24 — Rondel Melendez, (WR), Eastern Kentucky — 1999
4.28 — *Champ Bailey, (CB), Georgia — 1999
4.29 — 3 times including Fabian Washington 2005
For some reason, I'm not buying Locker's time
